The Farm
During the warm season, our livestock, including pigs, graze on pasture. When the pastures are growing and in good condition, they serve as the only source of food for the cattle, sheep and goats. During the cold season and droughts, we feed hay to all the animals. Year round, we supplement pig and poultry rations with a custom grain mix we blend on the farm.
Our goal is to raise as much of the hay and grain for our livestock as we can. We plant and harvest hay, oats, wheat, triticale and corn. We purchase non-gmo seed and rotate crops and grazing.
We manage the fields without pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizer. The animals provide manure to fertilize the crops. Likewise, we raise our animals as naturally as possible, treating only when necessary. The feed is hormone-free and non-medicated.
